What is Psoriasis?
Psoriasis is a skin disorder which is non contagious. The skin is marked with thickened Red patches on the skin which are covered with silvery scales are seen in the patient. The scales have inflammation beneath them. Two to three percent of American citizens are affected by the disease. It could affect elbows, knees face, hands, belly, and groin or scalp also.
Psoriasis is a non contagious disease which reappears on the same side and at the same spot. Sometimes it may re occur in other areas as well. The size of the patches affected by Psoriasis could vary from the size of a nickel to as big as the size of your hand.
What Causes Psoriasis?
In usual course human skin sheds within a month after it has matured. In Psoriasis affected patients the cells mature at a much faster rate. The cells get re produced within two to four days. The skin cells pile up in thick patches on outer layers.
