Psoriatic Arthritis Treatments
Psoriatic Arthritis treatments are necessary to help reduce Arthritis pain and swelling, slow / prevent joint damage, and relieve Psoriasis skin pain and inflammation.
The primary treatments for Psoriatic Arthritis include medication, physical therapy / exercise, and lifestyle changes. Your doctor can prescribe topical creams and ointments, oral medications, physical therapy / exercise, and phototherapy / sunlight treatment.
Some treatments your doctor may choose from to prescribe include corticosteroids for a short time. These are generally not used very long due to side effects.
Other treatments prescribed by a doctor may include nonsteroidal anti-inflammarory drugs such as aspirin or ibuprofen. Another category of drugs are disease modigying antirheumatic drugs such as methotrexate, hydroxychloroquine, and sulfasalazine. Another category of drugs, tumor necrosis factor blockers, include etanercept, adalimumab, infliximab, and others.
Most importantly, your treatment is between you and your doctor. What will work best for one person may not work best for the next.
