Amevive Treatment for Healing Psoriasis
Submitted by mypsoria on Fri, 09/21/2007 - 00:00.
Psoriasis causes skin cells to grow at a much faster rate than normal. The extra cells create layers which go on to form scales. They further convert into red patches and cause pain.
Even mild degrees of Psoriasis can be cured with creams, moisturizers, lotions or nominal drugs. However moderate and severe Psoriasis need treatment by systematic Therapy or Ultra Violet (UV) therapy. Amevive Therapy assists in restraining the hyperactive cells known as T cells. Autoimmune diseases including Psoriasis are caused by T cells. Amevive targets T cells and reduces their number to manageable levels.
In Mar 2003 Amevive was the first drug to be approved by FDA for treating adults with moderate or severe Psoriasis. Studies were carried out on more than 1000 adults. Almost 75 % reported that the results were positive.
Advanced biotechnology is used by Amevive. Extra cells built up in the immune system are targeted. Amevive is administered either as intravenous or intramuscular injection. The dosage is a first course of 12 injections at the rate of one per week. This dosage can be repeated if good results are not obtained.
